I for one would find it extremely convenient if there were an option to have the window open until the user wants it closed. For instance, linking to many separate reference sources or cruising web pages. I was looking back over the Hook window evolution and think this would be a well used function. The window is width is already controllable, length is variable, and it is free floating. The option to keep it as needed and always on top would be a cherry on top.
