Version 165 of Hook software integration: Renewed Support for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (PDF Reader) for Mac; Fmail (fastmail.com) app

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is a PDF reader for the Mac.

Version 165 of Hook software integration adapts to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC’s latest API. Adobe Reader is currently at version 2020.013.20074.

Given Adobe Reader’s latest AppleScript dictionary, we expect to support deep linking with it in Hook 2.3.

It is worth remembering that there are several alternatives to Adobe Acrobat which are faster, have a smaller footprint, make fewer internet connections, and adhere to macOS design principles — such as PDFpenPro and Skim.

Fmail

Version 164 of Hook integration software, released last week, added support for the fmail special purpose email client, as requested by users, as discussed in Linking fastmail - Discussion & Help - Hook Productivity Forum.

Please note: Users report Hook also works well with fastmail.com in a web browser.

Fastmail.com does not have its own email app (i.e., developed by the Fastmail.com developers). fmail is a third party app that seems to have been developed specifically to support indexing fastmail.com emails for the Mac.

How to get the updated integration

Hook’s automatic software update (if enabled) automatically updates Hook’s integration scripts without you needing to relaunch Hook. Using Hook’s Check for App Updates and Update Scripts command also updates the scripts, without you needing to relaunch Hook.
