I have just bought Nisus Writer Pro. When I try to create a link to an open document I get the message ‘No linkable item found in Nisus Writer Pro’. I’ve checked all the relevant permissions, run tccutil reset Accessibility com.cogsciapps.hook in Terminal, and rebooted in Safe Mode to no avail. When I looked under Scripts in the Hookmark Settings. I found that Nisus Writer Pro was not listed. I added it manually but it remained greyed out. The message at the bottom reads, ‘Nisus Writer Pro requires a valid Get URL script’, but I can’t see any way of obtaining this script. I’m puzzled as Hookmark’s compatible apps page gives NWP the thumbs up. I’m running Sequoia 15.1.1 on an M1 Mac and both Hookmark and NWP are up to date. I’m assuming this is a bug, unless I’m missing something obvious.
Dear chris 1,
Isn’t this a problem under Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1 environment?
I am using Mac Studio M1 (Ventura 13.7.2) Nisus Writer Pro (ver3.4.1J)
Hookmark Pro (ver.6.6.1). There are no problems.
Yours, WAKAMATSU
Thanks Wakamatsu, I think you may be right about this. I also use Mellel which has worked with Hookmark in the past but now has the same problem. All other apps are working as they should. I guess I just need to wait for updates that will fix this.
Dear chris 1,
Under my circumstances( Ventura ) , Mellel ver 6.2.1 also work with Hookmark Pro (ver.6.6.1).
I helped with Japanese localization for Mellel 5 & 6.
Mac OS Sequoia is still experiencing problems with various apps.
Even with Mac OS14 Sonoma, my frequently used music-related apps
The reality is that OS 13 Ventura is still stuck because there are many problems.
Good luck.(with your Sequoia)
Yours, WAKAMATSU
Thank you, @Hook8Kuni .
Welcome to Hookmark forum, @chris1.
I just tried it and it is working on my mac (Sequoia 15.2). Currently, it is using Hookmark’s default script, that’s why there is no script for it.
I just found out that Nisus has it own AppleScript dictionary. So I updated the script server with the Nisus script, version 350. Please give it a try and see if it works.
Thank yuo
Thank you @bchend for this. While I’m an experienced Mac user I have no knowledge of programming, and I’m not sure how to carry out your recommendation. I’ve tried to locate the AppleScript dictionary, the script server, and Nisus script 350 but with no success. I’d greatly appreciate any further help that you or others may be able to offer. I wonder, should I install Sequoia 15.2 or would this risk creating more problems? Or is it worth asking Nisus to fix this in their next update? Many thanks.
Sorry for this confusion, @chris1 .
To update the script, just go to Hookmark preferences window->Update, click on “Check now” button.
Please let me know if you still have problems.
Thank you
Dear bchend,
Thank you for updating the Nisus Writer Pro script.
It is newly displayed in the script field of Hookmark Pro (ver.6.6.1).
Yours, WAKAMATSU
Thanks @bchend for clarifying this — all much simpler than I was imagining! I updated the script as you suggested, closed and reopened both Hookmark and NHP but still the same problem. But then by accident in the Get Address window I stumbled across the Reset to Default button and bingo!, NWP and Hookmark are now working perfectly. So thanks once again for pointing me in a direction that eventually bore fruit.
I’m still having the same problem with Mellel 6.2.1 as in this case the Reset to Default button is greyed out. Not really an issue just now. I’ve decided to stick with NWP for my current project as it seems more user friendly.
