No linkable item found in PDF Expert

When I select text or a page in PDF Expert and invoke a hook, I get the error message “No linkable item found in PDF Expert”.

I’ve read the help documentation and checked my system settings.

The problem persists, so I’m seeking help here.

For me, being able to obtain links to pages and paragraphs in a PDF is extremely important because I work in research.

Therefore, the current problem is the biggest challenge. Otherwise, this software would be almost meaningless to me.

The hook can open links in Devonthink, specifically specific paragraphs.

It can open links created in Adobe Acrobat, but not down to the page or paragraph level.

It can open specific paragraphs within pages.

I’ve tested all three, and they work.

However, PDF files are the most frequently used, so I’m in a bit of a hurry.

To copy a deep link in Adobe Acrobat, please select some text and highlight it (or other kinds of annotation), then invoke Hookmark and do “copy link”. For most other APPs, selecting some text is enough. Hookmark will generate a deep link like this.

Please also ensure that the default app for opening PDF files matches the one you used when generating the deep link.

PDF expert lacks automation. The UI-based script is not reliable: PDF Expert integration scripts - Share Hookmark automation - Hookmark Forum

So it is not in our linkable Apps list.

For deep linking, the following Apps work with Hookmark.

I understand now that pdfexpert and hook don’t match!

It’s great that both highlighted and underlined text in Adobe can generate deep links!

That solved my problem!
