Hung up at "Hookmark is Initializing"

I have recently completely restored my MacBook Air 2020 (M1) and I have used Time Machine to replace the empty Hookmark database of links with a backup from the backups folder from before I wiped the computer. However, when Hookmark (most recent version, downloaded and installed today) tries to start up, it hangs “forever” at “Hookmark is initializing” and never finishes. Any suggestions? I have read a bit on the forum but I don’t see anything that addresses why it might hang there.

Sorry about this issue.

May I ask about your macOS version Hookmark version?

Could you please help us debugging by turning on the logging? Here is how to do it:
(1)Quit Hookmark

(2)Run the following command in Terminal:
defaults write com.cogsciapps.hook output.log.to.file 1

(3)Start Hookmark , wait until you see “Hookmark is initializing”, let it run 5 mins

(4)Send us(support@cogsciapps.com) the log file with current date in its file name under ~/Library/Logs/com.cogsciapps.hook/

(5)Turn off logging
defaults write com.cogsciapps.hook output.log.to.file 0

Thank you

I wish to cancel this item. I just needed to give it longer time. It took about 10 minutes but it opened finally and it opened easily (immediately) the next time.

Thank you for letting us know. I am glad it works now.
