HOW do you use Hookmark?

I am completely unable to figure out how to use Hookmark. I get the concept as my colleguage explained it, but cannot figure out how to get there. Can someone suggest links or forums that will teach me how to use HM? Additionally, I do not find forums easy to navigate as they are rabbit holes. Thank you. Rick
