Hookmark stopped working today for me on Evernote. When I invoke it using the keyboard shortcut, it says No Linkable Item found in Evernote and one second later Evernote shows a banner where I can read Internal link to 'Note Title' copied to clipboard.
I’ve already checked for updates in Hookmark and it still doesn’t work. I’m on version 6.2 (6017), Scripts version 333.
I’ve confirmed this. Historically, evernote 10 dropped AppleScript; integration from 10 onwards must rely on UI scripting, which is brittle. It looks like something has changed in their URL handling, as our script hasn’t changed.
The bookmarks are available in Hookmark’s Bookmarks window (⌘B). You can search for them using url:evernote as keyword and part of the title. You can also copy the item link and do Focus on Link in Clipboard to see your hooks to a given item.
We’re close to deploying a work-around via the Hookmark Integration script server.
As of the latest Evernote version, its Copy Web link command (on which Hookmark relies) no longer returns a proper link, just a URL without a title. I don’t know if this is a bug or they did this intentionally. But if intentional, this is a bad decision.
Users can test this by pasting the result of Evernote’s Copy Web link into TextEdit RTF files or elsewhere; you just get a URL , no link title. The title used to be available as a parameter in the URL, which Hookmark would parse. If you paste the link in an Evernote note however, the link is properly formatted (name+URL).
Our solution will set the title of the link to the URL. Users can manually rename the link using Rename in Hookmark… command in the Action ☰ button. Less than ideal.
I have emailed feedback@evernote.com to apprise them of the issue. Evernote users may wish to add their voice/vote for this with Evernote (please note the version Evernote number and your macOS version).
one might want to ask them to reintroduce AppleScript and provide linkability support:
We have added the fix to our script server, version 334. Please update your local script(Hookmark preferences window->Updates->Check now) and give it a try.
they have changed the menu structure on which Hookmark relied, and they renamed the “Copy Web Link” command. Would be much better if they provided an API like DEVONthink does. We’ll provide an updated version.
We have added the fix to our script server, version 335. Please update your local script(Hookmark preferences window->Updates->Check now) and give it a try.
