Hookmark integration scripts version 415 with new Bookends integration is now available

Hookmark is particularly useful for academics and other knowledge workers, many of whom use a PDF manager such as Bookends or Zotero. Hookmark integrates with both of them.

Hookmark integration scripts version 415 with new Bookends integration is now available.

You can now easily switch the URL schemes in Bookends between

  • bookends//, and
  • hook://file/

As noted in Bookends2 script:

-- To change the scheme of the URL from bookends:// to `hook://file/`, please open the Terminal app and type
-- defaults write com.cogsciapps.hook integration.bookends.URL.scheme hook-file
-- To turn it back to bookends:// type
-- defaults write com.cogsciapps.hook integration.bookends.URL.scheme bookends-default
set urlType to "bookends-default"

Personally, I prefer the hook://file/ URL scheme. This is because I use Skim to read PDF files rather than read PDFs in Bookends itself. That way I see the same hooks whether I am selecting a PDF in Bookends or have it open in Skim or selected in Finder.
