Hi. I’m finding Hookmark a bit slow lately. Like upon my keyboard invocation it takes most of a second for the bar to appear. Admittedly my 2020 M1 MBP is not a speed demon, but I feel like Hookmark has gotten slower.
Could this relate to the number of hookmarks I have? It’s 5765—is that high? Just average? Either way, I would appreciate an affordance to delete large numbers of them at a stroke. A page at a time is just too slow. (I pretty much only ever use Hookmark to link to OmniFocus tasks, so once the hookmarks are like 3 months old or something I would feel very safe in deleting them.)
I also have an m1 and am planning to get an m5 studio in 2026 but do not think that could be your problem. I am able to do 3d rendering with my machine with low memory and of course heat pours out from the bottom of the iMac so m1 is still quite a good machine — still powerful in some respects.
I have half your size database so I cannot speak on the size causing problems but I did have a slowdown along with inability to do bidirectional links. I was told to export my bookmarks, delete the program and reinstall it, and import the bookmarks back in. It has been working great ever since with Hookmark window coming up instantaneously.
All I am saying is don’t start deleting bookmarks until you have tried some other thing first. I am sure Hookmark support will come to the rescue as they did for me.
Hookmark is working . . . fine. Just feels a bit slower than I remember it once doing.
My current Hookmark version is 6.12 (6436; Integration v. 402). I have no idea what was the last version that I felt was faster. I’m not even sure whether it was a step change or a gradual one.
Yes, the speed feels the same whether I’m on a previously hooked item or not. (Good question! I didn’t think to check that.)
