Hookmark 7 and Tahoe 26.3

Just a heads up. I just installed Tahoe 26.3 (beta 2 I believe it is.)

Booting up after the update, there is now a conflict of some sort between Hookmark and the system. Specifically, if Hookmark is running, I cannot type the letter “a”. Shut Hookmark down and the “a” key works. Also, when Hookmark is running, sometimes pressing the “a” key will activate the Hookmark Bookmarks window. But when Hookmark is running, I cannot successfully insert an “a” into any app that I have tried.

Weird.

Please check your keyboard shortcuts:

That was the first thing i checked. I even cycled them off just to be sure. To no avail.

is it possible you changed some keyboard shortcuts in System Settings?

I’m looking for a keyboard shortcut that involves the letter “a” correct? I’m not seeing any modifications I have done that involve a command using the letter “a.”

Besides… it is the single letter “a” without any modifier keys where the issue is. Can a shortcut even be recorded without any modifier keys?

Also… it is the single letter “a” by itself… when Hookmark is running, the CAPITAL A works fine. Just not the lowercase “a”

maybe you accidentally set up the key in some other application such as Keyboard Maestro or BetterTouchTool or Raycast or Alfred and that synced to the other computer as well?

Hi @arthurwerry I had exactly this problem on Taho2 26.2 and the non beta version of Hookmark. Got the same support advice. There is NO shortcut on my system called “a” but I eventually managed to get it reset by changing all the shortcuts in Hookmark to something other than the default. It disappeared and has not been seen since. Your mileage may vary but it is definitely a Hookmark issue IMHO

Tech Support was able to help me find that the issue was caused by one of the Hookmark shortcuts was turned on but the bix for the actual keystroke for that shortcut was empty. Once I added a keystroke, the problem went away.

interestingly, when I went back and tried to remove the keystroke again to confirm that this was the source of the problem, Hookmark wouldn’t let me leave the box empty.
