Hookmark 4.0 is now available for download (Successor to "Hook" Mac app)

The immediate successor to Hook 3.9, Hookmark 4.0 (4988; Integration v. 238) is now available for download from the Hookmark website.

This build:

  • “Hook” has been renamed to Hookmark
  • “Hook Lite” has been renamed to Hookmark Basic
  • “Hook Essentials” has been renamed to Hookmark Standard
  • “Hook Pro” is now Hookmark Pro

Read our Rebranding FAQ to learn why we have made these changes, and what the implications are. In sum, the rebranding does not materially affect the terms of license agreements. Your old license keys will still work. Hookmark’s URL schemes (hook://) are not changed. Of course, the website and associated assets are being updated.

Having said that, the license agreement in the disk image has been modified to reflect the new branding.

Other changes in the build

If you have AppleScript automation involving our software that depends on app name (which most would), please update it to refer to Hookmark.

We have kept the in-app changes related to the rebranding to a minimum.

For more details, see Hookmark 4.0 Release Notes, which also has a link to the direct download.

Eligibility for updates

Hookmark software updates are free to any “Hook” (now known as Hookmark) CogSci Apps customer with a Hookmark Updates license that was valid at the time the update was released. Hookmark Pro and Hookmark Essentials (now Standard) each come with one year of free access to software updates.

If your Hookmark (formerly “Hook”) Updates license has expired and you apply this update, please note that Hookmark will revert to Lite (now Basic) mode until you purchase and apply an Updates license. However, you can also revert to a previous version of Hookmark that was released during your Updates License period. Upgrading from Essentials (Standard) to Pro includes an additional 12-month Updates license.

We made Hookmark available as an in-app update as of this Pacific-time morning. However, this version of the in-app installer is not renaming the otherwise updated build from Hook to Hookmark. So you’ll need to rename it manually, preferably while the app is not running. Builds downloaded directly from the website, of course, are renamed appropriately.
