  • NEW: ability to delete bookmarks from Hook.
  • RENAMED: Delete Link command (in HOOKED section) to ‘Unhook’. This is to prevent confusion with the new Delete Bookmark bookmarks.
  • Improved sync battery usage, other aspects of sync and parsing of Markdown in .hook files.
  • Several bug fixes.
  • ADDED integrations with MarsEdit, Notenik and Trello.
  • IMPROVED integration with Obsidian, nvUltra, VLC media player, Bear writer, BusyCal, Zotero, Powerpoint and other apps.

Full release notes are available online.

This build incorporates integration updates that were released on Hook’s integration server after Hook 3.4.3 was released. Hook applies integration updates upon Check for App Updates and Update Scripts …, so you might have the following updates already.

Eligibility for updates

This Hook update is free to any Hook customer with a valid Updates license of Hook (Hook Pro and Hook Essentials each come with one year of free access to updates) or in valid trial or Lite mode. If this update was released after your Updates license expired (per Hook’s “About” window), then Hook will revert to Lite mode until you purchase a new Updates license. In that case, applying a valid Updates license will give you access to the full Essentials or Pro functionality. Or you may revert to a previous version of Hook that was released during your Updates License period.

Next up

This week, we expect to release support for the latest version of Evernote as an integration update. This will maintain compatibility with the legacy version of Evernote.

Unlike the august DEVONthink information manager, the latest version of Evernote lacks AppleScript and other powerful local automation. Evernote basically pulled the rug from under its customers’ feet. We recommend DEVONthink over Evernote.

We expect a shorter release cycle for Hook 3.6. It contains features we’ve been wanting to release for a long time. Much looking forward to that!

Meanwhile, we expect to release our Hook-related iPad and iPhone software in May.

Gratitude

Thank you to everyone who tried out Hook 3.5 public beta, and any feedback shared regarding Hook. And of course thank you to everyone who contributed software integrations.
