HIM doesn’t create a link to received emails in Apple Mail

I think this topic has been covered a bit before, but I cannot find a solution. I originally posted in Discussion, but no one has responded. Not sure if this is a bug or user error

When I try to link to an email in Apple Mail it instead creates a link that, when clicked, opens to a new “create email” window with the sender’s email address in the To field. Here’s an example: “Order Receipt 2025-05-11 From sender.com to me.com.” When I paste it into a calendar entry, the two email addresses are hyperlinked, but, again, all it does is open up a new email to create.

It seems to be a function of the app I’m wanting to paste INTO. For example it WILL create a clickable link to the actual email if I post the link into Apple Notes or Todoist, but not if I post it to Apple Calendar (or BusyCal), Drafts, or just about any other app.

I have tried ctrl+H >“copy link” and Advanced>Copy link to Apple Mail. Neither works.

The workaround I’m using is to print the email to a pdf, save it, and then link to the saved file. But linking to a file is no where near the same as linking to an email that will require a response at a later date.

Hookmark 6.7 and Mac OS 15.4.1

Just to confirm — when you use Hookmark’s “Copy Link” on a received email and paste it into Apple Calendar, do you only see something like:

“Order Receipt 2025-05-11 From sender.com to me.com”?

I just tested the same flow in Apple Calendar, and it seems to be working fine on my end.

That’s the problem, yes.

Huh. Not sure how to replicate it. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall.

Might it matter if I have the setapp version?

Are you using clipboard manager APP?

Could you please try “Copy Markdown Link” and paste into Calendar’s “Add notes” fiedl?

Adding to “Add URL” field generates a malformatted URL.

That might be my issue. I will try that. Thank you.

That worked. Thank you. I was adding to a URL field.
