Forum member's question about Calendar and Hook integration

I am responding here to a question that was posted in the Releases Category:

According to What Mac Apps Work with Hook? – Hook, hook supports Calendar.app but not Link to New > Calendar. I personally have several links to Calendar events. It is not particularly fast, even on my fast machine.

In your case, where does the hang happen? On invoking Hook window, or accessing a linked calendar event? Calendar does not have a URL scheme, so the AppleScript to access calendar events is implicitly iterative: show (first event where its uid = eid). The time it takes to access targets of such links will depend on Calendar’s performance, which presumably is a function of the number of events you have in that Calendar calendar and the position of the event in Calendar’s sort order, and the speed of your Mac.

BusyCal offers the best automation.
