Expanding Hookmark's scripting dictionary + other feature requests

Hi, any plans on expanding Hookmark’s scripting dictionary? I’d like to work with the tags, indirectly hooked items, and related items.

There was also a similar request in the forum: [Feature Request] Support for scripting tags

Additional Features/Suggestions:

  • The “Focus on Link in Clipboard” command would be more intuitive in the Action Menu, not the Gear Menu. I love this command. I’m really bad with remembering keyboard shortcuts. When I first started using Hookmark, it always threw me off that this was located in the Gear Menu. It would be nice to add that to the Action Menu and have it dynamically show if there is a link in the clipboard. Similarly, adding a button “Focus on Link in Clipboard” to the window that dynamically shows when there is one present would be great too.
  • A new command in the Link Menu called “Hook to Focused Link” to quickly hook “indirectly related” and “related” links to the focused link in the title bar. This works best in scenarios where users traverse links, haven’t copied the link that’s in the title bar, and want to hook those 2 items together.
  • Consider adding shared tags to the “Related” Items section or a separate section titled “Shared Tags” where it shows links that have the same tags.

Great suggestions, thank you!

We’ve bumped up the priority for this.

yes, that’s on our product road map. I hate to commit publicly in case things change (particularly given the imminent release of Hookmark Pal); but it’s currently scheduled for 6.12

Good point!

The Action ☰ menu is for the current context defined by the items in the Context window, whereas the clipboard is not in the window yet. The gear menu contains commands that could be used outside the context window (such as from the menu bar, which we are expanding; also the menu bar icon’s gear menu). Also, the Action ☰ menu is getting crowded, we don’t want to overwhelm users, so we have to be very careful what we add there, particularly given the product road map calling for new features.
