I would like to find out how can you create a deep link to a location within a document (MS Word, Or Apple Pages). Right now, to create a bidirectional link from a powerpoint deck, for example, I hook, then copy link.
I then go to a document and I would like to be able to, from the powerpoint, hook to and navigate to, not just the document as a whole, but to an exact location in the Word or Pages Document.
Thank you for getting in touch, @johnlepore .
Hookmark supports deep linking for MS Word. You need select some text before you invoke Hookmark window. Then you can do “copy link” or “Hook to…” linking. The link will be deep link.
Deep link for Pages is not supported yet. We will have a look.
Thank you
I could not replicate the deep link to MS Word.
Microsoft® Word für Mac, Version 16.89 (24090112)
Hookmark Pro version 6.3 (6035)
Could you please elaborate?
Here’s what I did:
Selected text on page 2 of a Word doc
invoked Hook
Coped Link
Pasted link into Logseq
Word doc opens, but on page 1 (not the deep link on page 2)
BTW: Would this work in MS PowerPoint for Mac as well?
Thanks much in advance
The most up to date version of Microsoft Word for Mac that I can get is Version 16.88 (24081116), not 16.89. Are you using a pre-release version?
I verified that it works.
could you please paste a copy of the link that you get?
Here is an example of a deep link that I get:
hook://file/QV233oq49?p=Q1VQIDIwMjMgU0lQIGNoYXB0ZXIgZm9yIERhbmllbCBLYXkgQm9vayAvQUEtVEhFIFBBUEVS&n=Beaudoin%2C%20SIP%20Theory%20chapter%20of%20CUP%20book%2DSent%202024%2D06%2D27%2Edocx#bkName=AS47A1D895B962403EB9A35B397B9C30D3
the #bkName=AS47A1D895B962403EB9A35B397B9C30D3
field is the deep part of the link.
Hello Luc,
thanks for your rapid reply.
Works like a charm now.
Don’t know what happened in the first instance.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Warm regards,
Frank
Hi Luc,
Could you please comment on the deep link in MS PowerPoint?
Thank you very much in advance.
Hookmark doesn’t support deep links to locations within PowerPoint. I don’t even know if it is possible. We’ll have a look at it.
Thanks, Luc.
A viable potential solution for me could also be to have a defined object (e.g., a text string or a shape with a defined text) that Hookmark can locate.
