there was a recent update of marginnote, the links previously started with marginnote3app, now it starts with marginnote4app. The documents in marginnote 3 can be imported to marginnote 4, the postfixes remain exactly the same, and the only thing changed in links is from marginnote3app to marginnote4app, so I intend to use marginnote 4 only from now on, but the links in hookmark is kinda broken only because of the changed version.
Hey, fellow MarginNote user here. I also recently upgraded from MN3 to MN4.
As long as you have imported your MN3 notebooks correctly into MN4, the old links should open in MN4 (if MN3 is no longer installed). This has been my experience, anyway.
However, I want to give strong support to what appears to be your feature request: URLs/links for bookmarks stored in Hookmark should be directly editable.
I would add: In an ideal scenario, there would also be a batch editing operation that would allow using Regex to modify many bookmarks in one go.
uh, thanks for your reminder. I didn’t notice it would be redirected to MN4 if MN3 is uninstalled (because I didn’t).
Another thing is that the interface provided, especially list view, really makes it intuitively seem editable.
There’s currently no way to do a global search and replace of URLs. It would require a direct database manipulation which we don’t currently support given the complexity with syncing of URLs across devices. As a stopgap, it may very well be that the links associated with the current note will show up in the RELATED items section if they have the same title. So you could select the matching link in RELATED item and then “focus” on it. We explained the concept of focusing in
we didn’t mention RELATED items, but the same principle applies. TO focus on a link either use the right arrow key, or click on the right angle bracket ( >
