Is it possible to have special characters, such as spaces, quotes, pipes, and colons automatically replaced, upon the creation of hook notes, with “safe” alternatives, such as a hyphen or underscore? It’s not uncommon that a webpage contains said special characters in its title which the resulting hook note will inherit, making it unreliable to process in a terminal environment (and many GUI software). I think this issue deserves attention because it to some extent undermines the robustness that Hook strive to maintain.

Hook is a remarkably customizable app. Its Notes’ New Item script is quite customizable in Hook Pro. Per:
Scripts Tab – Hook . If anyone wants to contribute a New Item script for Notes, then others could borrow or adapt it.
