# Clean My Links in Hookmark 7 beta: Feedback invitation

The web is full of links—but far too many of them are cluttered with _tracking cruft,_ marketing parameters, and unnecessary complexity. These bloated URLs don’t just look ugly. They undermine privacy, fragment your links, and get in the way of meaningful connections between your information.

It automatically removes tracking and unnecessary cruft from web URLs, so your links stay private, beautiful, and durable across time and contexts.

### Not a Link Shortener

Clean My Links™ is not a traditional link-shortening service. It does not: change the domain, introduce redirects, or rely on external services.

Moreover, unlike competitors, Hookmark’s Clean My Links works without you needing to instal a plugin or extension in _any_ browser, let alone all of them!

### Get dynamic updates

Since the web has _so much_ URL cruft, CogSci Apps will gradually improve its rules for cleaning your links. If you enable [automatic updates](https://hookproductivity.com/help/preferences/updates/), then you’ll get these improvements of ours gradually, without needing to reboot Hookmark.

### Add and share cruft-removal rules

If there are additional URL patterns you want to clean, Pro users can add new cleaning rules themselves. And please consider posting your new rules below. (Enclose the URLs in ``` tick symbols so that the forum software doesn’t convert them to hot links.)

YouTube puts a 3-digit number in parentheses before the title of a video in markdown links. Is there a way for this to be cleaned off as well?

we don’t currently clean titles, just URLs. However I’ve been meaning for years to support title-cleaning and it is on the agenda.

I hate how [X.com](http://X.com), LinkedIn and Facebook do that too.
